Maintenance Mechanic Trainee

Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or GED and a valid SC driver's license

Typical Work Hours: Monday - Thursday 6:00 am - 4:00 pm (along with weekly rotating on-call)

Starting Pay: $21.50

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Maintenance Mechanic Trainee position performs preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment in the wastewater collection system, wastewater treatment plant, and water distribution system. Tasks include:

• Routine pump station maintenance
• Instrumentation maintenance and repair
• Rehabilitation/conversion of pump stations
• Pump station monitoring and controls via the SCADA system.
• Other duties include building maintenance, operation of heavy equipment, wetwell vactoring and recordkeeping.
• Maintenance Mechanics and Electrician/Mechanics participate in an weekly on-call emergency duty rotation approximately every 6 weeks.

Desired Training and Experience:

• Experience in mechanical maintenance and repairs
• Knowledge and experience with hand and power tools
• Experience with a variety of pump types and motors
• A South Carolina Wastewater Collections Operator license
