SUMMARY: Under limited supervision, responds to and resolves customer complaints which includes analyzing water samples from complaint locations. Receives, evaluates, addresses and closeout customer complaints. Prepares report for each complaint including sample results and transmits it to the customer. Ensures that monitoring of the water quality in all of BJWSA's surface and ground water distribution systems is performed in accordance with all regulatory requirements including scheduling, sample collection, reporting and record keeping. Supervisor the well and water quality operators. Operator, maintain and train Hach WIMS system.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Requires a high school diploma or equivalent, four years' experience as a water treatment plant operator. Must have the ability to read and write and perform basic arithmetic calculations. Must possess basic mechanic skills to perform both equipment checks, preventative maintenance, and complete instrument calibration. Must possess the ability to operate a variety of equipment used in plant and potable well systems. Requires computer experience in Excel, Word and the ability to learn software used by BJWSA. Must possess or obtain training in confined space entry, work zone safety, HAZMAT safety, and first aid/CPR.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must possess S.C. Class "A" Water Treatment Plant Operator License and a Class "A" Water Distribution License or obtain such licenses within one year of hire or selection. Must possess a valid driver's license.

Interpersonal Communication: Requires the ability of speaking and/or signaling people to convey or exchange information. Includes the receiving of information and instructions from supervisor.
Language Ability: Requires the ability to read a variety of documents and reports. Requires the ability to prepare required records and reports using the proper format, punctuation, spelling and grammar, using all parts of speech.
Intelligence: Has the ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagrammatic form; to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in or from standardized situations.
Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to record and deliver information and to follow verbal and written instructions.
Numerical Aptitude: Requires the ability to utilize mathematical formulas; add and subtract totals; multiply and divide; and determine time and weight to calculate flow rates, dosages, and unit consumption.
Form/Spatial Aptitude: Requires the ability to inspect items for proper length, width and shape.
Motor Coordination: Requires the ability to coordinate hands and eyes in using automated office equipment. Requires the ability to operate a variety of motor equipment.
Manual Dexterity: Requires the ability to handle a variety of items, office equipment, control knobs, switches, etc. Must have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.
Color Discrimination: Requires the ability to differentiate colors and shades of color.
Interpersonal Temperament: Has the ability to deal with people beyond receiving instructions. The worker needs to relate to people in situations involving more than receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under moderate stress when confronted with an emergency.
