Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator I

Minimum Requirements: A South Carolina Biological Wastewater Treatment Class C or D license is preferred. A high school diploma or GED and a valid SC driver's license is also a requirement.

Typical Work Hours: Monday - Thursday 6:00 am - 4:30 pm (along with weekly rotating on-call/duty).

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator I is responsible for the operation and maintenance of a 10 MGD Wastewater Treatment Plant including chemical feed systems, activated sludge process, solids handling process, and pump stations. Tasks include:

Completes laboratory analyses, instrument calibration, sampling, and record keeping in electronic data management system
Makes plant inspections and records data on log sheets
Interprets process control data and makes appropriate adjustments to the process
Operates heavy equipment including a boom truck, front-end loader, and forklift
Completes routine maintenance and repairs on equipment
Monitors and controls plant processes via the SCADA system
Develops basic knowledge of the drinking water distribution system
Participates in the on-call/duty rotation (weekly) including 4 hours on Friday, and 2 hours on Saturday, Sunday and holidays
